Off Allonby: 3-4 miles off the coast, in the area of the buoyed channel: The north north-east going stream begins at 5 hours and 15 minutes before high water at Liverpool. The south south-west going stream begins at 55 minutes after high water at Liverpool. The north north-east going stream reaches a speed of 3.8 knots at springs. The south south-west going stream reaches a speed of 3.5 knots at springs.
Off Silloth: The north north-east going stream begins at 5 hours and 15 minutes before high water at Liverpool. The south south-west going stream begins at 45 minutes after high water at Liverpool. The flow reaches a speed of 5 knots at springs.
Off Southerness: The north north-east going stream begins at 5 hours and 45 minutes before high water at Liverpool. Conditions may be rough around the point and over the shallows in the centre of the Firth.
River Nith: The in-going stream begins when the sands cover. The out-going stream begins 20 minutes after high water at Liverpool. The streams last for only 2 hours in each direction. A powerful bore can form in the river.

Marshside: (SD 080 907) g Small parking areas by the road, close to the beach. Walk to the sea may be long at low tide. Note that this location is on the corner of the Eskmeals range - a red flag is flown here when firing is in progress, but probably best to check. If the range is active, don't go north from here!
Ravenglass: (SD 084 962) g Road runs down to the beach. Drop boats here, then park in the car park off Croftlands Drive. This beach is the start point for the annual Seaquest kayak orienteering event.
Drigg: (SD 048 985) g Small parking area at end of road, 100m carry to the beach. The carry will be much longer at low tide.
Seascale: (NY 037 010) g Large car park by the beach. May be a long walk to the sea at low tide.
Nethertown: (NX 989 073) g Parking area with ramp onto beach
St. Bees seafront: (NX 960 118) g Large car parks near the beach and RNLI slipway.
Whitehave Harbour: (NX 969 183) g Steps down to beach within harbour on south side. Parking nearby, with extra spaces 150m to the west.
Harrington: (NX 986 252) g Parking area near the end of the southern breakwater near the shore. Steps down to a beach under the breakwater.
Workington southern harbour wall: (NX 983 296) g Two parking areas near the end of the harbour wall and close to the beach. Possible to launch here or within the harbour to the south east of the car parks.
Maryport: (NY 028 368) g Car park, with additional parking on gravel, by the beach just to the south of the harbour entrance.
Allonby South car park: (NY 079 422) g Small car park by the beach. Long walk when the tide is out.
Allonby North: (NY 081 437) g 3 car parks to the north of the village, all close to the beach. Long walk to the sea at low water.
Silloth South Beach: (NY 104 535) g Follow old service road round the side of the harbour to a parking area.
Bowness on Solway: (NY 219 626) g Small parking area near the shoreline. Best near high water.
Annan Waterfoot: (NY 191 646) g Parking area close to old slipway, usable when the tide is high.
Dumfries Cemetery: (NX 976 750) g Small car park near a footbridge and beach. At MHWS there is at least 1m of water in the river.
Southerness: (NX 977 543) g Road runs down to the foreshore. Public car park 200m back up the road.
