Abbey Head to Hestan Island: The east north-east going stream begins at 5 hours and 45 minutes before high water at Liverpool. The west south-west going stream begins at 15 minutes after high water at Liverpool. The flow reaches a speed of 3 knots at springs.
Off Kirkcudbright Bay: The west going stream begins at at high water at Liverpool. The east going stream begins at 6 hours before high water at Liverpool. The flow reaches a speed of 4 knots at springs. The east-going stream runs around Meikle Ross and through The Sound towards the Dee entrance. The west-going stream runs in the opposite direction.
River Dee entrance: The north north-east going stream begins at 6 hours before high water at Liverpool. The south south-west going stream begins at at high water at Liverpool. The flow reaches a speed of 4 knots at springs.. Streams at Kirkcudbright are affected by the flow out of a power station dam upstream - if the flow is strong there is no in-going stream.
Off Wigtown Bay: The east north-east going stream begins at 6 hours before high water at Liverpool. The west south-west going stream begins at at high water at Liverpool. The flow reaches a speed of 3.5 knots at springs.
East of Burrow Head: Inshore eddies affect the flow to the east of Burrow Head and near Isle of Whithorn: The north-east going stream begins at 1 hours and 40 minutes before high water at Liverpool. The south-west going stream begins at 1 hours and 50 minutes after high water at Liverpool. The south-west going stream flows at 3-4 knots. The north-east going stream is weak.
Inshore Burrow Head: The east going stream begins at 4 hours and 30 minutes after high water at Liverpool. The west going stream begins at 2 hours before high water at Liverpool. The flow reaches a speed of 5 knots at springs. A race forms here in wind over tide conditions.
East side of Luce Bay: Information is vague, but the following is a guess: The south-east going stream begins at 2 hours and 45 minutes after high water at Liverpool. The north-west going stream begins at 3 hours and 15 minutes before high water at Liverpool. The tidal stream follows coast up to Point of Lag, beyond which streams are weak and irregular. Streams increase in speed, reaching 4 knots by Port Castle Bay. The flow is affected by local eddies and irregularities near Burrow Head.

Kippford: (NX 837 550) g Slipway, likely not usable at all states of the tide. Restricted parking by the slipway, larger public car park a few hundred metres to the north.
Brighouse Bay: (NX 635 458) g Small parking area a short carry from the beach. There may be a long carry to the water at low tide.
Garlieston: (NX 480 462) g Slipway in harbour usable 2 hours either side of high water. Small fee to launch. Parking in the harbour area or near public toilets to the west.
Isle of Whithorn: (NX 478 361) g Slipway with adjacent parking.
Point of Lag: (NX 365 394) g Parking area near the sea. May be a long carry at low water.
Port William: (NX 337 437) g Drying harbour. May be easiest to launch just to the south of the harbour. Parking on road and gravel nearby.
Stairhaven: (NX 208 538) g Small parking area by the sea.
